Body Seal (Packing)

13. Remove the Packing Screw from the Body.

IMPORTANT: Should the pump contain flat
packings in the Body (see 

Figure 5

), the

pump must be converted to use Seal (

Replace existing Screw with Packing Screw
(

14. Remove Upper Bearing (

), and Lower 

Bearing (

) from the Body.

15. Remove Screws (

) and Lock Washers (

) that secure 

the Upper Mounting to the Body as required.
• Separate the Upper Mounting from the Body.

Pump Tube

16. Move and secure the Bung Adapter to Adapter (

• Secure the pump assembly once again horizontally 

in the vise.

17. Unscrew Primer Body (

18. Remove Stop Nut (

) from Primer Rod (

• Support the Primer Rod through the hole as needed.

19. Remove Plate (

) from the Primer Rod assembly.

20. Grip Upper Piston Rod (

) and pull the entire rod 

assembly from the Pump Tube.

21. Remove Gasket (

), and additional 

Gasket (

) from the Adapter.

22. Remove Valve Body (

) [with attached components] 

and Guide Washer (

) from the Adapter.

23. Remove Screw (

24. Unscrew Pump Tube (

) from the Adapter.

• Use a strap wrench.

25. Remove Spacer (

) from Barrel Assembly (

IMPORTANT: Should the pump contain flat
packings in the obsolete Barrel Assembly
(see 

Figure 5

), the pump must be converted

to use Seal (

). Order Barrel Assembly (

26. Remove the Barrel Assembly from the Pump Tube.

27. Remove both aluminum Gaskets (

28. Remove brass Bearing (

), and nylon Wear 

Ring (

) from the Barrel Assembly.

Rod Assembly

29. Remove upper and lower Spring Clips (

) that secure 

Lower Piston Rod (

) and Piston (

) to Coupling

30. Unscrew the Lower Piston Rod and the Piston from the 

Coupling.

CAUTION

Support the Piston and Primer Rod assembly dur-
ing Roll Pin (37) removal. Damage to components 
can occur.

31. Remove Roll Pin (

) that secures Adapter and Insert 

Assembly (

) to Primer Rod (

• Use a punch and a small hammer.

32. Unscrew the Primer Rod and the Piston from the 

Adapter and Insert Assembly.

33. Remove aluminum Washer (

), Spring

), and Retainer (

) from the Piston.

34. Separate Upper Piston Rod (

) from the Lower Piston 

Rod as required.

Clean and Inspect

NOTE

: Use the appropriate repair kit for

replacement parts. Make sure all the compo-
nents are included in the kit before discard-
ing used parts.

  1. Clean all metal parts in a modified petroleum-based 

solvent. The solvent should be environmentally safe.

   2. Make sure to remove the thread sealant from both male 

and female threaded connections.

  3. Inspect all parts for wear and/or damage.

• Replace as necessary.

  4. Inspect Upper Piston Rod (

), Piston (

), and Primer 

Rod (

) closely. Use a magnifying glass to detect any 

score marks.
• Replace as necessary.

  5. Closely inspect the mating surfaces of all check valve 

components for any imperfections Ensure a smooth 
and clean contact is obtained when assembled.
