Diagnostic tests
The 2902 MainStreet system can perform a number of diagnostic tests on the whole
system and on specific circuits. The tests can be run automatically or when directed.
If a test is unsuccessful, or if the time taken to complete a test exceeds the preset
limit, a Device Failed alarm is recorded. By accessing the fault list (see section 26.4),
you can determine which circuit has failed a diagnostic test.
Diagnostics do not run on modules which do not support them. Diagnostics do not
busy out a circuit or remove it from service. If a circuit is required for a call while a
test is in progress, the test on that circuit is aborted. Similarly, diagnostics skip over
circuits that are engaged.
Table 26-1 lists the diagnostic tests. You can run all the tests in the background (see
section 26.2) or you can select a particular test (see section 26.3).

Diagnostic test restrictions
In order to run diagnostics or a particular test:
•
diagnostics must be enabled for the circuit
•
the module(s) must be installed
•
the test must be supported by the module
Test 4 cannot be run for the following types of circuits when they are connected:
•
cept_lgs_cbw_Type
•
cept_bypassSig_Type
•
cept_bypassNoSig_Type
Test number
Function
Description
1
Program Integrity
A checksum is performed over the processor program
space.
2
RAM Integrity
A cyclical byte-wide read/write test is performed over the
entire range of RAM.
3
NV RAM Integrity
A checksum is performed over the entire NVM.
4 Digital
Loopback
Test
A digital loopback is performed on the data link between an
idle module and the Control card.
