7750 SR OS Interface Configuration Guide

Removing or Failure of a Protect MDA

The detection of an MDA removal or an MDA failure can take additional time. This can affect the
APS switchover time upon the removal or failure of a protection MDA. If the removal is scheduled
during maintenance, it is recommended that the port and/or protect circuit be shutdown.

Protection of Upper Layer Protocols and Services

For a single-chassis APS, upper Layer protocols and services are not affected by a switchover
from the working to the protect channel or vice versa.
