Landing
distance
The distance measured during landing from clearance of a 15 m
(50 ft) obstacle (in the air) to the end of the landing run.
Take-off
distance
The take-off distance measured from the actual start of the take-
off run to clearance of a 15 m (50 ft) obstacle (in the air).
Take-off
run
The take-off distance measured from actual start of the take-off
run to the main wheels lift off point.
Usable fuel The fuel available for flight planning.
Weight and balance terminology
Arm
Is the horizontal distance from the reference datum to the
centre of gravity of an item.
CG
Centre of Gravity, being the point at which the aircraft (or
equipment) would balance if suspended. Its distance from the
reference datum is found by dividing the total moment by the
total weight of the aircraft.
Datum
Reference datum is an imaginary vertical plane from which all
horizontal distances are measured for balance purposes. (In the
Sling this plane runs through the centre point of the flat front
face of the engine flange of the Rotax engine).
Empty
Weight
Is the weight of the aircraft with engine fluids and oil at
operating levels.
MAC
Mean Aerodynamic Chord.
MAUW
Maximum All Up Weight.
Maximum
Landing
Weight
Is the maximum weight approved for the landing touch-down.
Maximum
Take-off
Weight
Is the maximum weight approved for the start of the take-off
run.
Moment
Is the product of the weight of an item multiplied by its arm.
