Introduction
Introduction
In this chapter, you will find general information on caring for your optical devices. This manual
documents the service and repair of the Agilent 86100A/B/C to the assembly level. Before ser-
vicing the mainframe, you should be aware that amplitude calibration data can only be installed
by the factory. Whenever you contact Agilent Technologies about your mainframe, have the
complete serial number and option designation available. This will ensure you obtain accurate
service information. Refer to
Table 1-1 for a list of internal labels. To locate a major instrument
assembly, refer to the following figures:
• For the 86100A, refer to Figure 8-1 on page 8-5
• For the 86100B, refer to Figure 9-1 on page 9-5
• For the 86100C, refer to Figure 10-1 on page 10-6
Protect against ESD damage
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage or destroy electronic components. All work on elec-
tronic assemblies should be performed at a static-safe work station.

charge Information” on page 1-8 for more information on preventing ESD.
