1. Center Wavelength and Spectral Width
To perform this test, you need an Agilent 71450A/B-series optical spectrum
analyzer. These optical spectrum analyzers come with an advanced measure-
ment program which automatically characterizes DFB lasers. Do
not
modulate
the source during this procedure.

Connect the equipment as shown in
.

Turn on the Agilent 83400-series source and the optical spectrum analyzer,
and allow them to warm up for 1 hour.

Connect the output of the source to the optical spectrum analyzer’s input using
a 9
µ
m fiber-optic cable.

On the optical spectrum analyzer, press the
AUTO MEAS
key.
