Performance Tests

Agilent 81650A/1A/2A/4A/5A/6A/7A User’s Guide, Third Edition

Center Wavelength and Spectral Bandwidth
Test

Make sure that cable connector, detectors and adapters are clean.

Setup the equipment as shown in Figure 6.

Switch the Agilent 8165xA Laser Source module on.

Press the green button

InstrPreset

on the HP 71452B front panel to

reset the optical spectrum analyzer.

Start the auto measurement by pressing the yellow button

AutoMeas

Adjust the Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) for use with Fabry-

Perot laser sources (the Agilent 8165xA DUTs are Fabry-Perot laser

sources):

Press the User hardkey.

Press the [FP] softkey.

Set up the spectrum analyzer:

Press Menu.

Press the [

Amptd

] softkey.

Press the [

Linear

] softkey.

Press the User hardkey.

Press the [

SingleSweep

] softkey.

In the field given at the top of the screen, the Fabry-Perot laser test

results are shown. Note the mean wavelength as the FWHM

bandwidth in the test record.
