By proper level adjustment you adapt the amplifi er to your
signal sources (guitar pick-ups, microphones, etc.).
For this purpose keep the master control initially fully
anticlockwise.
Now gradually increase the appropriate gain setting as far as
possible but without triggering the red clip indicator, even
when you play loud. Thereby you keep some headroom for
unexpected peak levels.
Finally set the desired volume using the master control.
4. Starting up
4.1 Cabling and switching on
Before connecting to mains,
please ensure that your local mains
voltage (e.g. 120V in the USA, 230V
in Europe) matches the voltage ra-
ting of the device, which is printed
on the type label on the
rear side of the unit.
Since the AER Cubello is rated for 100-240 V AC, it can be
operated on all usual mains voltages worldwide.
Connect all cables according to your application and switch the
amplifi er on. The green
power
control LED indicates operational
readiness.
5. Functional characteristics
5.1 Tone control
The duo-band equalizer of your
Cubello
provides you with an
active and high quality sound interaction tool that supports the
natural tone of instruments and voice whilst simultaneously
off ering you the possibility of a controlled accentuation.
Note:
The active equalization of the
Cubello
aff ects the signal adjust-
ment. If you spot an intensifi ed fl ickering of the
clip
indicator,
re-adjust the signal level with the
gain
control (
s. 4.2 Level
adjustment
).
5.3 Phantom power
Microphones requiring
48 V phantom power
can be directly
connected to the
XLR-socket
of
the microphone input
. Factory-
provided phantom power is activated but, if required, may be
deactivated by an internal jumper.
When connected by jack plug, the 48 V phantom power is not
applied. Use the jack connection for microphones that must not
be connected to phantom power. Please also read the general
notes on phantom power.
Please note:
For the above-mentioned modifi cation the device
needs to be opened. Therefore, only qualifi ed service personnel
should de-/activate the phantom power.
•
If the gain setting is too low, the amplifi er may not reach
the desired volume, or distracting noise may become
noticeable.
•
Setting the gain too high causes distorted sound
(clipping). The clip light will warn you before this happens.
•
If you use an instrument with a volume control, start off
with full volume but reduce it if the clip indicator lights up
early and the level adjustment is diffi cult.
•
Please ensure there is always enough battery power in
your (active) pick-up system. Humming and sizzling may
be caused by an empty battery.
•
If several inputs are used simultaneously, you also
determine the mixing ratio by the individual gain settings.
•
Also check the clip indicator while playing through all
inputs at the same time.
•
The gain controls of any unused inputs should stay fully
anticlockwise.
5.2 Eff ects
The
Cubello
has two built-in (internal) eff ects (reverb and delay).
The
eff ects level
control determines the intensity of the internal
eff ects (left stop = no eff ect). In addition, the eff ect is assigned to
one or both channels by the eff ects pan control (see below).
Left stop:
eff ect on instrument channel
Center position:
equal portions of eff ect on both channels
Right stop:
eff ect on microphone channel
4.2 Level adjustment
General Note:
Notes on the use of phantom power
Phantom power means remote power supply of an audio device
(e.g. microphone) via the audio line.
Only suitable devices should be connected to an input with
(activated) phantom power.
Such devices are also marked accordingly. Please heed the per-
missible power consumption (see technical data).
Some devices do not need phantom power but tolerate it.
Other devices that have not been designed explicitly for phantom
power operation can suff er from considerable malfunction and
damage may result as well. In case of uncertainty please consult
the manufacturer of your devices.
We wish you lots of fun playing your
Cubello!
