Keyboard and PS/2 connector (CN8)
The PCM-4822 board provides a mini-DIN keyboard connector
which supports both a keyboard and a PS/2 style mouse. In most
cases, especially in embedded applications, a keyboard is not used.
The standard PC/AT BIOS will report an error or fail during power-
on self test (POST) after a reset if the keyboard is not present. The
PCM-4822 board's BIOS standard setup menu allows you to select
"All, But Keyboard" under the "Halt On" selection. This allows no-
keyboard operation in embedded system applications without the
system halting under POST (power-on-self-test).
Power connector (J13)
Main power connector, +5V, +12V (J13)
Supplies main power to the PCM-4822 (+5 V) and devices that
r12 V.
Serial ports (CN7, CN3)
The PCM-4822 offers two serial ports: one RS-232 and one RS-232/
422/485. These ports let you connect to serial devices (a mouse,
printers, etc.) or a communication network.
COM1 RS-232 port (CN7)
The serial port connectors are mounted on the bottom edge of the
card. The 9-pin, D-SUB connector to the left of the card is the RS-
232 port.
COM2 RS-232/422/485 selection (CN3)
The secondary port located above COM1, consists of a 14-pin,
dual-in-line, male header and can be configured to operate in RS-
232, RS-422, or RS-485 mode. This is done via J10.
