7.2  Email Not Sent 

The following are possible reasons that an email message may not be received following an event. 

7.2.1  Incorrect IP Address for SMTP Server 

Check that the ipGateway is configured with the correct IP address for the SMTP server. 

7.2.2  User Not Valid on the SMTP Server 

Check that the “SMTP Username” given to the ipGateway has a valid user account on the SMTP server.  

Some servers require that the whole email address be used for the user name:

while other servers require only the user part of the email address:

7.2.3  Incorrect Password 

Check that the “SMTP Password” supplied to the ipGateway matches the password for the SMTP Username on 
the SMTP server. 

7.2.4  Relaying Not Setup on SMTP Server  

See section 3.1 

 

8  Request for Information 

The following may be given to a network administrator to obtain the required configuration information for the
