Installation Checklist
The following instructions serve as a quick start when using the cables supplied with the
Development Kit.
1. Mount the two GNSS antennas in a level orientation with a clear view of the sky. The
primary antenna should be positioned directly forwards of the secondary antenna with
separation of at least 0.5 metres.
2. Connect the coaxial antenna cables between the antennas and Certus. The antenna cables
should not be coiled.
3. Plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet socket on the breakout cable, and into your
network.
4. Plug the power supply into the power connector on the breakout cable and then into the
wall socket.
5. If using Windows, download and install the Bonjour ZeroConf networking utility from the link
hq.advancednavigation.com.au/fileshare/Bonjour64.msi
.
6. In a web browser go to http://certus.local/.
7. If the unit is mounted in an alignment other than the standard alignment of X+ pointing
forward and Z+ pointing down, this alignment offset will need to be entered into the
alignment screen under the Configuration menu. See the section titled ‘Mounting Alignment’
of the reference manual for more details.
8. Accurately measure the GNSS antenna offset from the centre of the Certus unit to the
central base of the primary antenna in the body co-ordinate frame (X+ forward and Z+
down) and enter these values into the alignment screen under the Configuration menu. See
the section titled ‘GNSS Antennas’ of the reference manual for more details. Note that the
body axes are always X+ forward and Z+ down irrespective of any alignment offset entered
in the previous step.
9. Choose a Vehicle Profile in the Filter Options screen under the Configuration menu.
10. The system is now ready for use.

Power Supply
There are two options for powering Certus OEM, either a wide input 9-30 VDC that passes through
an onboard regulator or a clean and regulated 5VDC supply.
Note:
only one power supply should
be connected to the unit at any one time. Connecting power supplies to both inputs may result in
damage to the unit.
On start-up of the Certus OEM the device will initially draw an increased impulse current (2A for 2
microseconds) whilst it charges on board capacitors. It is important that the user's circuit is tolerant
to these small impulses on start-up to avoid unsuccessful power up. It is recommended that a
supply is selected that can provide a maximum current of 2A. Switch-mode supplies are suitable as
Certus OEM has on-board filters to remove any supply noise and ripple.
