Interface
The three panes of the OPTI-APPS window are as follows:
•
on page 8: Add, sort, select, or delete a Network Element
•
on page 10: Configure/review Network Elements
•
on page 13: Review alarms for the selected GNE or NE
Navigation Pane
The upper left area of the OPTI-APPS window is the Navigation Pane (Nav Pane). In this area,
the GNEs and their subtended OPTI-6100s are displayed in boxed fields. Multiple GNEs and
their associated NEs can be built in this window.
NOTE
At installation, OPTI-APPS is pre-set with one GNE, subtending one NE.
Select a GNE or NE in the Navigation Pane to display configuration information and alarms
associated with that element, in the Nav Pane and Alarm Pane, respectively.
If more elements have been built than can be shown in the window at one time, a vertical
scrollbar appears, to allow access to elements that have been moved out of the display.
NOTE
Right-click any element to show a pop-up context (or “right-click”) menu.
This menu provides tools and shortcuts to manage the Nav Pane
contents. It has different options for Gateway or Remote NEs. Context
menu options are noted where applicable in the following topics.
Expanding/Collapsing the Element Tree
GNEs and their subtended NEs are listed in a tree format. A root level (the OPTI-APPS title)
allows collective access to the GNEs. The GNE level of the tree is always displayed. To show
or hide remote NEs subtended from a GNE, click the plus/minus (
) control to the left of
the GNE, or double-click the GNE.
Subtended NEs are displayed below the subtending GNE. In
, GNE WEST is
collapsed (left). Clicking WEST’s plus control expands the tree to show subtended NE
SYSTEST-08 (right). The plus control turns to a minus, which can be clicked to collapse WEST.

NOTE
When a GNE box is collapsed (NEs hidden), the highest level of alarm
reported by a subtended NE is displayed on the GNE. In
, WEST
displays a Major Alarm reported by subtended, but
hidden
, SYSTEST-08.
When SYSTEST-08 is shown, WEST no longer displays an alarm.
