Install the UPS
Installation of the Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS) will be
dictated by on-site conditions and local telephone company
practices. Refer to the installation material that is provided with the
UPS.

NOTE

After the ground wire, fiber jumper, and power leads have been
connected, close the ONT and secure it by tightening the inner
security screw.
■
Power conductors, POTS, and Ethernet are suitable for
connection to internal wiring or cabling only. Do not metallically
connect these ports to interfaces that connect to external wiring.
Do not connect this port to equipment located in other buildings
or structures.
■
Installation of this product must comply with the National Electric
Code (NEC). Final acceptance of this Listed equipment
installation will ultimately be up to the local Authority Having
Jurisdiction (AHJ).

This is to be installed by qualified service personnel only.

To terminate the POTS lines, complete the following steps:

TELEPHONE TROUBLESHOOTING
1. Identify the bad line.
2. Disconnect the plug from the appropriate POTS jack and plug
any working telephone into that jack.
If the telephone works, there is a problem inside the house.
If the telephone does not work, contact your service provider.
3. Remove the telephone and replace the plug into the POTS jack.
4. Close the unit.
This device is intended to be attached to a receiver that is not used to
receive over-the-air broadcast signals. Connection of this device in any
other fashion may cause harmful interference to radio communications
ans is in violation of the FCC Rules, part 15.

2. Trim each wire to length.
3. Connect the tip and ring wires to the terminal bridges.
4. Insert the RJ-11 connectors from the terminal bridges in the
appropriate POTS Port.
Connect Ethernet to the ONT
1. Route the Subscriber Ethernet wires through the same cable
entry as the POTS cables.
2. Install RJ-45 connectors to the Ethernet wires.
3. Insert into the appropriate
ENET 1–4
socket.
4. Tie wrap both the POTS and Ethernet cables to the NID
housing near the cable entry point point.

The LED table below provides the LED status for the ONT.

EGISTRATION
ID
There are two instances where the OLT will register the ONT:
■
Serial Number Activation (performed by the OLT when the ONT
is “Discovered”)
■
Registration ID using a lineman’s handset (see below)
Set Registration ID Activation using Lineman’s Handset
To set the Registration ID using a DTMF Keypad on a standard
lineman’s handset, complete the following steps:

NOTE
■
The ONT does not need to be connected to the OLT during the
Registration ID process.
■
Only POTS port 1 can be used for Registration ID configuration.
1. Perform an initial power-up on a new ONT.

NOTE
At the start-up of the ONT, a 10-second Registration ID configu-
ration window is provided.
2. Wait for the indication that Registration ID configuration is
available. The

LED will be flashing green on a 200
millisecond interval when Registration ID configuration is
available.
