NTRODUCTION

This manual provides essential information about the two-slot HiGain

®

 Retrofit Management (HRM) Shelf. The 

HRM-238 List 2 shelf fits into either a 19- or 23-inch Central Office (CO) equipment rack and accomodates up to two 
HiGain management units (HMU-319s).

A

UDIENCE

This manual is written for people who install and plan the installation of ADC products in a Central Office 
environment. If you are an installer, technician, or a local Craft person, this manual contains information you can use 
to install the HRM-238 List 2 shelf. It also provides information that can help you plan and make decisions about 
your installation.

This manual is also appropriate for managers and planners who are thinking about installing HRM-238 List 2 
shelves into a CO or telco-style equipment rack, as well as people interested in the HRM-238 List 2 shelf in general.

This manual is written with the assumption that you are familiar with ADC shelves or equivalent hardware and 
cabling, electronic circuitry, and wiring practices.

identifying alarms, turning up the system, and installing 
management units, as necessary.

Appendix A: Specifications

Provides power requirements, physical dimensions, and 
recommended operational and storage environments for the 
HRM-238 List 2 shelf.

Appendix B: Product Support

Provides information on how to contact the ADC Technical 
Support group.

Glossary

Defines abbreviations and acronyms used in this document and 
that relate to the HRM-238 List 2 shelf.
