2.3-LITRE DOHC i-VTEC TURBO

260 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2.3-litre i-VTEC

VARIABLE FLOW TURBO (VFT)
Exclusive to the RDX and a first in Acura’s
history, the breakthrough i-VTEC turbo
engine utilizes Variable Flow Turbo
technology to deliver plenty of torque
at low engine speeds and eliminate
turbo lag. Through forced induction and
a constant variable exhaust valve, VFT
keeps the exhaust velocity high, enabling
instantaneous acceleration while still
maintaining excellent fuel efficiency. Turbo
reliability is achieved by circulating cool
water throughout the engine so critical
areas are kept cool even when the engine
is stopped.
INTERCOOLER
Another unique achievement for Acura
is the intercooler system, specifically
developed to enhance the performance
and combustion efficiency of the
2.3-litre i-VTEC turbocharged engine.
Since compressing intake air makes
it hotter, outside air is drawn
through the intercooler to increase
engine air density and enhance the
combustion process.
DUAL-EXHAUST
