Operation
A complete tool system consists of the following items:
Controller
Power cord
Tool
Tool Cable
Reaction Bar*
* Application specific
Clutched Models
An optional feature on AcraDyne
®
HT Series Nutrunners is a locking clutch that allows the gearcase 270 degrees of rotation in
relation to the motor/handle assembly. This feature is useful in positioning the reaction bar against the workpiece prior to the
tightening event.
CAUTION IS REQUIRED. THE CLUTCH PIN SHOULD BE FULLY ENGAGED BEFORE COMMENCING
TIGHTENING OPERATION. THE GEARCASE HAS STOPS THAT LIMIT ROTATION TO APPROXIMATELY
270 DEGREES AND SHOULD NOT BE ROTATED PAST ITS STOPS AS SERIOUS DAMAGE CAN OCCUR
WITHIN THE TOOL.
To maximize the effectiveness of this feature:
• Begin with the AcraDyne
®
HT Series Nutrunner
disconnected from any controller.
• Make sure the recessed area around the teeth on the
Reaction Bar is down toward the Gear Box.
• Install the Reaction Bar by lining up the Set Screw on the
front of the Gear Box with the Notch in the Reaction Bar.
• Install the Retaining Ring into the Groove of the Gear Box.
• Reconnect the AcraDyne
®
HT Series Nutrunner to an
AcraDyne
®
Controller and prepare for use.
WARNING: FOR MODELS THAT DO NOT HAVE THE NOTCH AND SETSCREW:
THE REACTION BAR MUST BE INSTALLED CENTERED IN THE GEARCASE. THIS PROCESS
MUST BE FOLLOWED TO ENSURE THE REACTION BAR IS CENTERED IN THE ROTATION OF THE GEARCASE.
THE TOOL HANDLE MUST NOT BE LOCATED AGAINST A SOLID OBJECT DURING OPERATION OF
THE TOOL WITHOUT A REACTION BAR OR REACTION ABSORBING DEVICE IN USE AND IN GOOD
CONDITION. A PINCH POINT CAN EXIST BETWEEN THE HANDLE AND THE SOLID OBJECT AND
WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE TOOL, SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH SHOULD PROPER REACTION
HANDLING PRACTICES NOT BE OBSERVED.
When ready to begin tightening:
• Pull the Spring Loaded Clutch Knob away from the tool body.
• Swivel the reaction bar into position minimizing or ideally eliminating any gap
between the Reaction Bar and the Reaction Surface of the application.
• Release the Spring Loaded Clutch Knob and the clutch will lock the
position prior to tightening.
• Complete the tightening event.
