2.15 Firmware Upgrade

The SGM3000 Series meters support application firmware upgrade through the local
communication port and through the AMI communication interface. The metrology firmware
cannot be upgraded. The meter supports firmware upgrade with ANSI C12.18 protocol and the
DLMS/COSEM protocol.

There will be a unique customer key installed at the factory. This key is used to decrypt the new
firmware image that is sent via AMI or optical interfaces. All firmware updates delivered by
ACLARA shall be encrypted for a specific customer.
