Appendix A ASM & RDM quick installation guide

Installing RDM

Remote Diagnostics Manager (RDM) consists of the RDM Console and
the RDM Agent. RDM agent is preinstalled in any Acer Altos series
server with a BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) board.

System requirements

RDM requires that a BMC board be installed in the managed server;
otherwise, RDM Console will not be able to locate the managed server.

RDM Console requirements

•

Intel Pentium or higher processor

•

32 MB of RAM

•

At least 32 MB free hard disk space

•

Microsoft Windows 98/2000/Me/XP or Windows NT 4.0 operating
system

•

Ethernet card

RDM Console setup

This section describes how to install and uninstall the RDM Console
software.

Installing the RDM Console software

Follow these steps to install the RDM Console software:

Insert the EasyBUILD

Management CD into the server’s CD-ROM

drive.

The installation sequence will automatically be displayed.

Select the option for RDM installation.

The installation wizard will be initialized.
