NiCd batteries. They are charged when the unit is plugged into the supplied AC/DC
a d a p t e r . F u l l r e c h a r g e w i l l o c c u r o v e r 1 2 t o 1 6 h o u r s . B e f o r e r e c h a r g i n g t h e
batteries you should be deep cycled occasionally by allowing them to completely
discharge to maintain maximum battery capacity. The NiCd batteries should last
for several years. However, it is a good idea to check them every twelve months
for signs of corrosion or leakage. Always replace the whole set if any one cell
f a i l s
S i g n a l I n p u t
W h e n u s i n g t h e c o u n t e r w i t h a n a n t e n n a f o r s i g n a l p i c k u p , r a n d o m f r e q u e n c i e s
may appear on the display. This is quite normal and is caused by the high gain
of the receiver circuits which amplify noise in the absence of a strong readable
s i g n a l . N e v e r g e t t h e u n i t t o o c l o s e t o a t r a n s m i t t e r a s i n t e r n a l d a m a g e w i l l
result.

The suppl ied telescopic antenna is best for general purpose use. This is because
its length can be adjusted to suit the frequency required. Usually you will want
a s h o r t e r a n t e n n a f o r U H F a n d a f u l l y e x t e n d e d o n e f o r V H F / H F .
