Removing and cleaning the filter silencer
If provided
u
Remove filter ring (81265).
u
Rinse the filter ring (81265) using water with detergent additive or, if
it is heavily contaminated, soak and carefully push through. Rinse in
cold water. Avoid high mechanical stress (do not use a water jet).
NOTICE
The amount of filter ring (81265) contamination depends on the cleanli-
ness of the air that is drawn in. Clean filter ring after every 500 hours of
service or more frequently if necessary.
u
Loosen and remove lock nuts (81273).
u
Loosen and remove screws (81272) to the connecting rods (81269).
u
Remove connecting rods (81269).
u
Carefully remove cover grids (81266).
NOTICE
If the cleaning medium vessel is attached to the filter silencer (option
depends on type of turbocharger), the water injection pipe must first
be removed at one insert unit (E) (see also the following section Disas-
sembling the cleaning pipe).
u
Pull out insert units (E), bend open sheet-metal coverings (81137) and
then remove absorption segments (81136).
u
Clean absorption segment (81136).
When cleaning, note that the absorption segments (81136) must only
be cleaned lightly with pressurized air, with a soft brush or a moist
cleaning cloth. Otherwise there is a risk of damage or deformation.
NOTICE
Replace heavily contaminated absorption segments, filter ring and
damaged connecting rods with original parts from ABB Turbo Systems.
