Wet cleaning with direct water supply
Prerequisites
On V-engines with several turbochargers per engine, parallel cleaning of both turbochargers
is recommended. This cleaning process is faster and reduces the risk of surging of the tur-
bocharger.
WARNING
Increased stress on material
During cleaning of the compressor at an engine load of 85 to 100 %, the
stress on the material of the compressor-end turbocharger parts can be in-
creased.
u
No personnel is allowed to be present in the vicinity of the turbocharger
during compressor cleaning.
u
Compressor cleaning must be activated from the engine control panel.
Wet cleaning operations for compressor with direct water supply
u
Trigger water injection according to the specifications of the enginebuilder.
u
Observe specified water pressure upstream of the connection to the turbocharger.
u
Operate engine for at least five additional minutes after cleaning.
Not more than three cleaning cycles should be conducted consecutively.
