Maintenance

Supply and inverter module cooling fan replacement (Frame R8i)

The actual lifespan of the fan depends on the running time of the fan, ambient
temperature and dust concentration. Each supply and inverter module has its own
cooling fan. Replacements are available from ABB. Do not use other than ABB
specified spare parts.

The supply and inverter control programs keep track of the running times of the
cooling fans of the supply and inverter modules respectively. See the

Firmware

Manuals

delivered with the drive for the actual signals which indicate the running

time.

Module fan replacement procedure

1. Read and repeat the steps in section

Safety instructions

on page

2. Disconnect the fan wiring plug (1).

3. Remove the locking screws (2).

4. Pull the fan out along its sliding rails (3).

5. Install a new fan in reverse order.
