MAINTENANCE

Hi-Limit Reset Button

A hi-limit thermostat will turn off electrical power to the

heater and control circuits if the unit overheats.  To

reset the thermostat, allow sufficient time (about 45

minutes) for the unit to cool down, remove the cap and

press the red reset button located on the side of the

unit (Figure 2).

If the unit requires continuous resetting, contact your

Authorized Service Agency.

WARNING

Turn the power off, unplug the power cord, and allow

the unit to cool down before performing any service or

maintenance.

WARNING

Inspection, testing, and repair of electrical equipment

should only be performed by qualified service

personnel.

CAUTION

Chlorides or phosphates in cleaning agents (e.g.

bleach, sanitizers, degreasers, or detergents) could

cause permanent damage to stainless steel

equipment.

The damage is usually in the form of discoloration,

dulling of metal surface finish, pits, voids, holes, or

cracks.

This damage is permanent and not covered by war-

ranty. The following tips are recommended for mainte-

nance of your stainless steel equipment:

•  Always use soft, damp cloth for cleaning, rinse with

clear water and wipe dry.  When required, always

rub in direction of metal polish lines.

•  Stains and spots should be removed using a

vinegar solution.

•  Finger marks and smears should be rubbed off

using soap and water.

CAUTION

If a chemical cleaner is used, be sure it is safe to use

on cast aluminum.  Observe all precautions and warn-

ings on product label.

Maintenance Schedule

DAILY – CLEAN CRUMB TRAY

  1.  Turn the power switch to the off position. Unplug

the power cord from the wall. Allow the toaster

and plate to cool for at least 30 minutes.

NOTE: The muffin toaster may be hot. Make sure
the toaster and plate are cool enough to handle
before you begin cleaning.

  2.  Put on neoprene gloves. Remove the Spatula

and set aside. Then, lift the Crumb Tray to

remove it from the muffin toaster. Remove the

Plate from the Crumb Tray.

  3.  Use a clean, sanitizer soaked towel to wipe the

surface of the Plate.

  4.  Inspect the Plate for carbon build-up. Wipe the

plate with a clean, damp cloth. IF the plate has

excessive carbon build-up, apply McD Hi-Temp

Grill Cleaner to the grill surface. Wipe the grill

surface with a clean, sanitized grill cloth. Rinse

the grill surface with water. Wipe the grill with a

clean, sanitized towel to remove all cleaner resi-

due.

  5.  Using a clean, sanitize towel, wipe the crumbs

from the Crumb Tray. If necessary, wash the

Crumb Tray and spatula at the 3 compartment

sink.

  8.  Place the Plate back onto the Crumb Tray. Slide

the Crumb Tray into the muffin toaster. Then

place the Spatula into the muffin toaster

NOTE: The Plate is reversible. Rotate the Plate from
side-to-side between cleanings. This extends the
life of the Plate.
