Competency Checklist
Using a 3M™ Ranger™ Model 145 Pressure Infusor with the Ranger Blood/Fluid

Purpose:
The Ranger Model 145 pressure infusor is designed for use with the Ranger blood/fluid warming system to provide pressure to IV solution
bags when flow rates up to 500 mL/min are required. The pressure infusor should only be placed on a Model 90068/90124 IV pole/base.
Read the Ranger Pressure Infusor Operator’s manual prior to use.
Before pressurizing the infusor chambers
Meets
standard
1.
Mount the pressure infusor onto the Ranger IV pole at a height no higher than 56”, tighten the pole clamps securely.
2.
Plug the power cord into an appropriately grounded outlet.
3. Use the main power switch located under the pressure infusor to turn the unit on.
4.
Remove excess air from IV solution bags and prime the warming set according to the instructions for use.
Load and pressurize the infusors
5.
Open pressure infusor door.
6.
Place IV solution bag into the pressure infusor chamber ensuring that the bag port and spike hang below the metal fingers.
Securely close and latch the pressure chamber door.
7.
Press the pressure infusor power button on the corresponding control panel to pressurize the chamber. Open clamps to
begin flow.
Changing an IV bag
8.
Press the pressure infusor power button on the corresponding control panel to turn the pressure chamber off.
9.
Close pinch clamps on tubing.
10. Remove the spike from the used solution bag.
11. Remove air from the new solution bag and fully insert spike into IV bag port.
12. Push the pressure infusor chamber’s bladder to expel remaining air and place IV solution bag into the pressure chamber
ensuring that the bag port and spike hang below the metal fingers. Securely close and latch the pressure chamber door.
13. Press the pressure infusor power button on the corresponding control panel to pressurize the chamber. Open clamps to
resume flow.
