Self Test, Alarms and
Warnings
Self Test:
In normal operating mode, the LCD will display 0 ppm for gas levels below 5 ppm. A
self test can be performed any time by pressing the button once from the normal
operating mode. The test will check the battery, electronic circuitry and alarm functions
of the detector.
NOTE:
a self test will not check the sensor function, only a bump test or calibration will
check the sensor.
The self test will be indicated by the TEST ICON on the LCD for approximately 5
seconds. The buzzer, LED and vibrator will activate and CAL will display for 5 seconds,
if you want, press the button to calibrate. When complete, the CHECK icon will appear
for 24 hours and the unit will be in normal operating mode.
If ERR appears, press the button to clear. Do not use the instrument until the reason for
the ERR message is determined and corrected.
Functions:
Viewing Peak Levels -
From normal mode, press the button twice and the peak reading
will be displayed. To clear, wait 5 seconds until CLR is displayed and then push the
button once, the device will go back to normal mode.
To enable or disable the Calibration Reminder -
The unit comes from the factory
enabled with a calibration reminder. The TEST ICON will flash when the time since the
last calibration is more than 30 days.
Press the button 3 times and the OFF/ON status will be displayed. Wait 5 seconds until
the TEST icon begins to flash and press the button once to change to enable or disable.
Setting Alarm Levels -
The alarm level can be changed from a factory setting of 25 ppm
to a preset level of 25ppm, 35ppm, 50ppm or 100ppm. Press the button four times from
normal operating mode. Wait 5 seconds until the display flashes, then press the button
until the desired setting is shown. When the display returns to normal mode the new
alarm point is set.
Alarms:
Time Weighted Average (TWA) Alarm
– From normal mode press the button five
times to display the TWA Alarm set point. The letters TA are displayed alternating every
second with the gas level. To clear the alarm, wait 5 seconds and “Clr” will be displayed,
press the button 1 time.
The Short Term Exposure Limit (STEL) Alarm
– From normal mode press the button
six times to display the STEL Alarms Set Point. The letters StL are displayed alternating
