Only one RingBuilder can be assigned to a local ring section. In a
managed chassis, if a RingBuilder is inserted into an MSH chassis with
the same ring number as an existing RingBuilder that is already
installed in the chassis, the new RingBuilder will have its local ring
section number automatically set to 0.
The new RingBuilder will NOT automatically take over if the existing
RingBuilder becomes faulty. You will need to manually reset the
RingBuilder’s local ring section number through the Facility Table. See
In an unmanaged chassis, if a RingBuilder is inserted into an MSH
chassis with the same ring number as an existing RingBuilder already
installed in the chassis, the RingBuilder in the higher slot will be
disabled.
Modules which have the local ring section number set to 0 will be
isolated from the MSH backplane. You will therefore need to change
this ring section number if you want the modules to form part of a
larger token ring network.
I
solated RingBuilders and isolated MAUs are displayed with the slot
number that they occupy within the MSH chassis; for example,
RingBuilder 4 or TR MAU 12 UTP 3.
Facility Table
You switch a token ring MAU module in the same way as a repeater
module. In the case of token ring, RingBuilder modules are necessary to
perform the switch.
Select the Facility Table from the Module Configuration menu at the
Main menu.
In token ring environments, the Facility Table identifies

the MSH chassis,

Most modules can only be
