Shortcut Audio Editor Owner's manual
Entering a new name causes the creation of a new file, which will not replace the existing file,
only the Hot Key assignment.
If you do not enter a new name or edit the default name displayed, when you press E
NTER
you are asked if you want to replace the file associated with the Hot Key. Pressing E
NTER
again causes the new Hot Key file to overwrite the old one. This operation is like a file erasure
and is not Undoable.
Cut A Selected Segment To A Hot Key
A highlighted audio segment can be Cut to a
HOT KEY
by holding down
CUT
, and
pressing the desired
HOT KEY
. "Cut" differs from "Copy" in that the audio segment is actually
removed from its original location. The cut segment is also saved as a new File; the display
will offer a default name, with a rename option.
Assign a File To a Hot Key
A File from the current Directory can be Copied to a Hot Key.

Go to the File select level (F

Select the File using the S

Hold the C

key down;

the desired H

K
EY
.
If the Hot Key you choose is already assigned, the display reads:
PRESS ENTER TO REASSIGN, PRESS EXIT TO CANCEL.
Pressing E
NTER
reassigns the Hot Key to the new file.
Determining a Hot Key Assignment
To silently find which File is assigned to a Hot Key, hold A
LT
and
press the H
OT
K
EY
.
Performing an Insert From a Hot Key
To Insert an audio segment into a File during editing:
•
Set the Cursor to the desired location on the waveform.
•
Press E
DIT
I
N
, then E
DIT
O
UT
to set an insertion point for the new segment.
•
Hold down I
NSERT
and press the desired audio H
OT
K
EY
. The selected segment is
inserted into the File, and the File length is extended by the same amount.
If a region of audio was first highlighted within the File, inserting an audio segment will
replace the audio within the highlighted region. If the inserted audio is of different length than
the segment replaced, the playing time of the File will also change.
Playing Audio From A Hot Key
Hot Keys can be played while in the Files menu, or in the Editor.
•
To play audio, press the H
OT
K
EY
. It will illuminate while playing.
•
To Clear a Hot Key assignment, hold E
RASE
and press the H
OT
K
EY
. (This does not
erase the file.)
