INSTRUCTIONS:

ITEM# AA-13E

Congratulations on purchasing Zoo Med’s
new AQUACOOL Aquarium Cooling Fan! This
compact fan will help to prevent overheating
in your aquarium by directing airflow over the
water or up at the aquarium lighting. Please
read and follow these instructions carefully
before using your new fan. If you have any
questions regarding these instructions or the
proper use of this product, please contact our
customer service department at the phone
or email address listed below. Thank you for
purchasing a quality Zoo Med product!

• Low voltage (12V) for maximum safety

when used near a wet environment.

• Better than overhead fans: Side-mounted

fan assembly to minimize water splash

on the motor and to prevent accidental

immersion.

• Multi-directional discharge nozzle for

precise air flow focus.

• Fully adjustable, wide discharge nozzle for

maximum cooling due to increased air/

water contact.

• Cools aquarium by one of the following

methods:

- Direct the nozzle upwards toward the

aquarium lamp fixture to dissipate some

of the radiant heat generated by your

aquarium lamps.

- Direct the nozzle so that air flows

over the surface of the water. This will

reduce the water temperature through

increased evaporative cooling.

• Caution must be taken when using

electrical appliances near water. To reduce

the risk of electric shock, be sure that

the AQUACOOL Aquarium Cooling Fan is

unplugged during any of the following

situations:

- Unplug when installing the fan on or

over your aquarium.

- Unplug when adjusting the fan, or when

cleaning the fan housing.

- Unplug when performing aquarium

maintenance.

- Unplug before placing your hand(s) in

the water of the aquarium. Be sure that

your hands are completely dry before

plugging the AQUACOOL Aquarium Cool-

ing Fan into an appropriate grounded

GFCI outlet.

- Unplug if the AQUACOOL Aquarium

Cooling Fan comes into direct contact

with water, or if any part of the AQUA-

COOL Aquarium Cooling Fan becomes

wet.

- Unplug when not in use.

• When unplugging the AQUACOOL Aquarium

Cooling Fan, grasp the transformer/plug

to prevent damage to the power cord.

Never pull on the power cord to unplug the

transformer/plug.

• DO NOT splice, repair, or modify the power

cord or the transformer. Inspect the power

cord and transformer periodically for

damage.

• For indoor use only.
• For use with aquariums only.
• Keep children and pets (other than your

aquarium inhabitants) away from the

AQUACOOL Aquarium Cooling Fan.

• DO NOT alter or modify this product. Con-

tact an electrician if you are unsure about

the electrical connection.

• This unit has no user-serviceable parts.

Do not attempt to repair this product

yourself. Return to Zoo Med for inspection

and repair.

The AQUACOOL Aquarium Cooling Fan must

be plugged into a grounded GFCI (Ground Fault

Interrupted Circuit) receptacle with a “drip

loop” (see figure 1). The drip loop will prevent

water from running along the power cord and

getting the plug or wall receptacle wet. To

create a drip loop, be sure that a portion of the

power cord is lower than the level of the wall

receptacle as shown in figure 1. If you are un-

sure about the electrical supply and connec-

tion, contact a qualified licensed electrician. If

for any reason the plug or wall receptacle gets

wet, do not grasp or unplug the power cord

until after the power has been switched off at

the main fuse or circuit breaker.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE!

To reduce the risk of fire, injury, or

electric shock, read and follow these

instructions prior to operating the

AQUACOOL Aquarium Cooling Fan. Save

these instructions for future reference.
