MAINTENANCE & CLEANING
When handling your PSAP, please be sure to hold it close to a surface (preferably soft surface) to
avoid damage if you drop it. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the PSAP. Do not use water, alcohol swabs
or other cleaning solvents as they will break down or damage your PSAP. When your PSAP is not in
use, keep your PSAP away from heat and moisture and store in a dry cool place.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If your PSAP is not working properly, it is likely due to either wax build up in the amplifier or related
to the battery. Please gently brush away any wax build up that may have occurred in the amplifier
and replace the battery. If that does not solve your issue, please check out our Frequently Asked

WHISTLING
Whistling is a common problem for small PSAPs and is also known as “feedback.” It is caused by
the amplified sound getting “fed back” into the microphone and being re-amplified. The following
tips will help reduce this occurrence:
1. Make sure the PSAP is securely seated in your ear
2. Change the ear dome for a more secure fit
3. Clear any ear canal wax
4. Reduce the volume
GENERAL WARNINGS
Minor itchiness, redness or irritation may occur as your ear becomes accustomed to having your
PSAP in it. If this continues to persist for an extended period or if you experience an allergic reaction
(inflammation, discharge from the ear, excessive wax or other unusual conditions), contact a
physician. If an ear dome or anything else related to your PSAP becomes lodged in your ear, please
contact a physician.
CHOKING HAZARD
Batteries and other small parts of your PSAP should be kept out of reach of children and anyone
who might swallow these items or otherwise cause injury to themselves. Do not mistake your
batteries for pills. Check your medicine carefully before swallowing any pills! If a battery or PSAP is
swallowed, see a doctor immediately and contact the National Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 or
National Battery Ingestion Hotline at 202-625-3333.

You’ve made an intelligent first step, and we are thrilled to have you
join the Thearist team! The product you have selected is a personal
sound amplification product (“PSAP”). A PSAP is a wearable electronic
product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or mitigate
disease and does not alter the structure or function of the body.1 A
PSAP is intended to accentuate sounds in specific listening
environments such as listening to soft sounds that would be difficult
for normal hearing individuals to hear, outdoor activities such as bird
watching or hunting, and listening to lectures with a distant speaker.
This PSAP is intended for use by adults (older than 18 years old). We
hope you enjoy your PSAP as much as we do and let’s get started!
NEW SOUNDS - NEW EXPECTATIONS!
You may notice sounds that you have never heard! Your brain will need
time to adapt to the new sounds, and the key to any success is
practice! We recommend that you wear your PSAP for a few hours on
the first day and gradually increase the time as needed. The more you
wear your PSAP, the more easily your brain will adjust to the changes.
Over a few weeks, the new sounds will start to sound normal.
