No Touch Temporal Thermometer

Basics of Your Thermometer

Normal Body Temperature

Trouble Shooting

normal forehead

temp range

Temperature readings are different from person to person and also vary

depending upon the body location from which the temperature is

measured. Forehead temperatures tend to be comparable to oral

temperatures and approximately 1˚ lower than rectal temperatures for

the same individual.  Temperature readings can also be affected by other

factors, including exercise, consuming hot or cold food/beverages prior

to taking a reading, and technique.
“Normal” temperature refers to each individual’s average temperature

while healthy.  You may want to measure and record your child’s

temperature a few times when he or she is well, so that you will know

what is normal for your own child.  On average, temperature ranges

are as follows:

Measured temperature is above this thermometer’s

range. See Technical Specifications section for

Thermometer may have been stored in a cold or hot

environment.

If the environment’s temperature is outside the

permissible range, then this thermometer cannot

function here. See Operation Environment for range.

•  Ensure thermometer is being positioned correctly (see Operating Thermometer).

•  Ensure

icon does not appear. If it does, replace batteries.

•  Consistent   readings may indicate that the sensors are dirty (see Care and

Maintenance).

•  Object is too cold to be measured by this thermometer.

•  Ensure thermometer is being positioned correctly (see Operating Thermometer).

•  Ensure that you are in the correct mode (Forehead or Object).

•  Object is too hot to be measured by this thermometer.

•  Allow thermometer to reach room temperature, then re-take temperature

measurement.

Batteries are low.  Replace them. (See Battery Information section)

For best accuracy, wait two minutes between temperature measurements so that

thermometer has time to re-acclimate to the room’s temperature.

1.

Press and hold the MEASURE button. The   symbol, measurement

in progress symbol   and “

” should be displayed (Figure D).

 2.

While holding the MEASURE button, aim the temperature sensor at

the temporal artery, on the side of patient’s forehead between the

eyebrow and the hairline.  Position sensor approximately 2” - 3”

from forehead (Figure E).

3.

When the thermometer is positioned properly, it will beep

steadily and the red Proximity Light will flash continuously. If the

thermometer is not beeping, move it closer or farther from the

forehead while holding the MEASURE button, until it is continuously

beeping.

4.

Release the MEASURE button, but do not move from position until

single beep occurs.

 5.

The thermometer will beep, and the temperature reading will be

displayed (Figure F). NOTE: Wait 2 minutes before taking another

measurement so that thermometer has time to re-acclimate to the

room’s temperature.

6.

Press the ON/OFF button to turn thermometer off. If left on, it will

automatically shut off in about 1 minute.

1.

If the object to be measured is food or beverage, be

sure to mix thoroughly before measuring temperature

to eliminate any “hot spots.” Wait 30 seconds.

2.

Press and hold the MEASURE button. The

symbol, measurement in progress symbol

and  “

00

 should be displayed (Figure G).

3.

While holding the MEASURE button, aim the

temperature sensor at the object or the surface

of the liquid, holding the thermometer as close to

object as possible without touching or immersing

into liquid or food (Figure H).

4.

Release the MEASURE button, but do not move

from position until single beep occurs.

5.

The thermometer will beep, and the temperature

reading will be displayed (Figure I).

6.

Press the ON/OFF button to turn thermometer off. If

left on, it will automatically shut off in about 1 minute.
