Quick Start Guide

No Tools Required for Setup

Self-Cleaning Litter Box

1. Unpack pieces: LitterMaid

litter box, AC adapter (in

styrofoam), disposable waste receptacles, LitterMaid

triple-

action tool, use and care book and cleaning brush (packed
with disposable waste receptacles), plus any optional items
including the carbon filters, paw-cleaning ramp, cat-privacy
tent, and litter box carpet.

2a. Cut and remove the restraints
on each end of the rake.

2b. Peel off protective tape
on the waste receptacle
compartment cover and the
battery compartment. Remove
styrofoam on top of the rake.

Unit comes with initial waste 
receptacle installed.

3a. Place a disposable waste
receptacle under the waste
receptacle compartment cover.
Make sure that the front of the
waste receptacle is under the five
tabs. There should be no gap
between the unit and the waste
receptacle.

3b. Attach the waste receptacle
lid by inserting the pushtabs into
the round holes. To secure press
on the positions indicated.

If carbon filters are included:

3c. Peel off the paper strip 
on the carbon filter to expose 
the adhesive. Place filter
adhesive-side down in the
diamond-shaped insert in the
center of the waste receptacle
lid; close waste receptacle
compartment cover.

(Not included with all models)

4. To fill the unit,

use only a premium clumping litter.

Do not

use non-clumping litter, crystal or pearl-like litters. Fill the
LitterMaid

litter box to

just below

the “Full Line.” 

5. Use the LitterMaid

triple-action tool to check that
the litter is at the correct level 
in the center of the unit. Do not
overfill the unit or it will not
operate properly. 

6a. Remove the AC adapter from
the styrofoam and plug it into
the unit. 

6b. Plug the cord into a standard
electrical wall outlet. 

6c. Turn the On/Off switch to
"on" and a red light will appear.

6d. The rake will automatically
run through its first cleaning
cycle and smooth out litter.

Your LitterMaid

is now ready

to use!

in the use and care book (p. 6).

If you need to acclimate your cat to the LitterMaid

litter box,

refer to "Acclimating Your Cat" in the use and care book (p. 5).

Litter box carpet: 

Place the unit on the litter box carpet.

Cat paw-cleaning ramp:

7a. The paw-cleaning ramp
has two pivot pins that snap into
holes on the side of the waste
receptacle compartment cover.
Position the paw-cleaning ramp
with carpet-side facing up.

7b. Point the pivot pins toward the disposable waste
receptacle end of the unit. Lift the paw-cleaning ramp and
insert one of the pivot pins into one of the holes.

7c. Slightly stretch the other pivot pin to reach the other hole,
then insert. Tug slightly on the paw-cleaning ramp to ensure
that it is firmly in place.

Tent:

Assemble tent to cover unit. (See instruction sheet).

Removing disposable waste receptacle:

We recommend avoiding contact with waste material. Wear
rubber or latex gloves when handling used disposable waste
receptacle.

8a. Depress the two pushtabs
in the waste receptacle
compartment cover. Detach
the disposable waste receptacle
lid from the waste receptacle
compartment cover.

8b. Lift the compartment cover, exposing the closed
disposable waste receptacle assembly.

8c. Pull the disposable waste receptacle edge free from 
the tabs holding it in place.

8d. To dispose of the waste
receptacle, press in on four
corners of lid to secure lid 
to the waste receptacle, and
dispose.
