Leviton combines occupancy and vacancy sensing tech-
nology with “Guide Light” functionality in its new designer
Decora occupancy sensor wall switch with LED NightLight
to present a clean, attractive wall switch device for
added safety and energy savings. An internal photocell
measures the level of ambient light present in the space
to prompt the NightLight to automatically illuminate and
provide a comfortable, low level of light to help guide
occupants without activating the overhead lighting.

The sensor uses passive infrared (PIR) technology to
detect motion from a heat-emitting source within its
field-of-view to automatically switch lights ON and OFF
(OSSNL) or manually switch lights ON and automati-
cally switch lights OFF (OSS10). In both models, the
auto OFF feature turns the overhead lighting OFF after
a preset time delay elapses.

Both the OSSNL and OSS10 models have the additional
ability to reduce (dim) and turn off the luminance of the
“Guide Light” function with a simple dial setting. The
adjustable LED NightLight illuminates a soft, white light.
In the dimmed mode, the LED NightLight dims to
approximately 5% of full brightness after 2 minutes of
vacancy. When in the continuous switch mode, the LED
NightLight will go to the brightness set on the adjustable
setting when occupancy is detected and the ambient
light level to the photocell is less than 1 foot-candle. The
LED NightLight consumes less than one half of a watt to
provide energy savings and a “Guide Light” when the
overhead lighting is off.

APPLICATIONS

OSSNL is perfect for use in hospitality and health care
facilities with either auto ON or manual ON settings with
adjustable time delay settings of 30 seconds to 2 hours.
OSS10 works well anywhere a manual ON only occu-
pancy sensor with LED NightLight is desired and has a
maximum 30 minute time-delay setting to conform to
California Title 24 requirements. The manual ON mode
reduces the need to waste unnecessary overhead light-
ing when there is sufficient illumination from the
NightLight.
