geNeral iNForMaTioN

The Through-Wall Shield may be used to shield the Direct Vent Pipe from 

blown insulation where required. It is critical to maintain the airspace 

clearance free from any material between the shield and the pipe.

If you encounter any problems, need clarification of these instructions 

or are not qualified to properly install this kit, contact you local distribu-

tor or dealer.
Read this instruction sheet in its entirety before beginning the installation.

step 1.  Cut the Through-Wall Shield to the desired length.

step 2.  Bring both ends of the Through-Wall Shield together to form a 

cylinder (

see Figure 1)

.

step 3.  Insert all the remaining locking tabs into the corresponding slots 

and bend the tabs inwards to prevent the Through-Wall Shield 

from disengaging.  Refer to section “a”-“a” of 

Figure 1

.

step 4.  Bend the mounting tabs (with holes) outwards on the Through-

Wall Shield (

see Figure 2)

.

step 5.  Bend the locating tabs inward on the Through-Wall Shield (

see

 

Figure 3)

.

step 6.  Position the Through-Wall Shield on the firestop spacer and 

center it by placing the locating tabs to the edge of the circular 

opening on the firestop spacer (

see Figure 3)

.

step 7.  While keeping the Through-Wall Shield centered on the firestop 

spacer opening, drive a screw on each of the four (4) mounting 

tabs of the Through-Wall Shield into the firestop spacer (

refer 

to Figure 3)

.

NOTE:  To ensure that the screws will not interfere with the termination 

assembly, place the Through-Wall Shield so the seam is located at 12 or 

6 o’clock (see Figure 4).
