WATER DETECTOR

WD 1000

www.h-tronic.de

With the help of a water sensor, the

WD 1000

 water

detector can detect unwanted water leakages at

an early stage. As soon as the sensor contacts

come into touch with water, the integrated acous-

tic and visual alarm sounds. Typical applications

include detecting leakages as a result of technical

defects in washing machines, dishwashers or hot

water boilers, early warning in the event of an in-

gress of water due to flooding, as well as addition-

al protection of water level or float switches. The

WD 1000

 device thus creates additional security,

offering you protection against major consequen-

tial damage.

read these instructions completely and carefully

before use. Please take into consideration that this

manual contains important information on the op-

eration and use of this device. This instruction man-

ual is part of the device. Please keep this manual

in a safe place for future reference. If you pass the

device on to a third person, please make sure that

you also pass on the manual. Damages caused by

failure of following the instructions in the manual

will void the warranty. No liabilities will be taken

for consequential damages. This product is certified

according to the applicable directives and complies

with statutory requirements.

DESIGNATED USE

The intended use of the device is the detection of

electrically conductive water, as well as an acoustic

and optical alarm. Any other use than specified is

not permitted!

NOTE:

Drinking water, salt water and contaminated water

are electrically conductive

Osmosis water, distilled water and pure rainwater

are not or only conditionally electrically conductive

NOTE:

This device left the factory in perfect tech-

nical condition. In order to maintain this condition

and to ensure safe operation, the user must observe

and follow the safety instructions and warning

notes in this instruction manual. Any use other than

that specified is not permitted!

NOTES ON OPERATION

You need a 230 volt socket to operate your

WD

1000

. The user is responsible for compliance with

the rules and regulations of the country in which

the control is operated. This also applies to the

application in which the controller is used.

1. SAFETY

WARNING:

Failure to follow the safety instructions

may result in hazards causing damage to property

but also serious injury or death.

–  Do not touch damaged connecting cables.

–  Do not work on the unit or on the connecting

cables during a thunderstorm.

–  The device may only be used in dry surroundings.

–  Do not allow liquids to penetrate the device.

–  Check connecting cables and devices regularly

for damage and replace them if damaged.

–  Repairs may only be carried out by a specialist.

The

WD 1000

is intended for use in a location

without direct sunlight and with adequate venti-

lation.

Plug the

WD 1000

 into an easily accessible socket.

The

WD 1000

must not be changed, rebuilt, modi-

fied or improperly repaired. The

WD 1000

 may

only be opened by an authorized electrician!

Do not expose the device to extreme humidity. In-

admissible condensation (condensation of air hu-

midity on the device) can occur if a cold device

is brought into a significantly warmer environment.

Condensates form, which can lead to short circuits

between electrical contacts. In this case, acclima-

tise the device, which has been disconnected from

the mains, for approx. 2 hours at room temperature.

WARNING:

Danger of tripping! Tripping can lead

to serious injuries.

–  Do not obstruct escape routes and stairs.

–  Lay the cables so that nobody can step on them

or trip over them.

All work on the mains and device may only be

carried out by authorized electricians.

A qualified person is defined as a person, due to

his professional training and experience, has suf-

ficient knowledge in the field of electronics and

the relevant health and safety regulations, accident

prevention regulations and guidelines, generally

has the knowledge of technical regulations (for ex-

ample, DIN standards, VDE regulations, technical

rules, etc.) so that he can assess the safe working

condition of electronic devices.

2.  SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

FOR INSTALLATION

The applicable laws and standards of the country

in which the device is operated must be followed.

The product is not intended to control electrical

equipment that has safety-related functions.

Even in normal operation, there is a risk of unexpect-

ed malfunction due to a failure or malfunction of the

–  Dispose of unnecessary packaging material or

store it in a place inaccessible to children. There

is danger of suffocation!

4. INSTALLING THE SENSOR

The location for installing the water sensor must be

carefully selected if you wish to be alerted reliably

and quickly in the event of water damage. To do

this, take heed of any floor inclinations, as well

as the distance between both measuring tips and

the floor. Install the sensor with the measuring tips

pointing downwards, exactly at the distance from

the floor from which an

alarm is to be triggered

in the event of leaking

water. To fix it, please

use the installation hole

in the water sensor and

mounting material suit-

able for the installation

spot.

5. COMMISSIONING

Connect the sensor cable‘s jack plug to the

WD

1000

device and plug the water detector into a

230 volt socket (see

NOTE ON OPERATION

). As

soon as the

“Power“

LED lights up green, the de-

vice is ready for operation.

6. HOW IT WORKS

As soon as the sensor‘s two measuring tips come

into contact with water, a permanent acoustic and

optical alarm signal is emitted. The

“Alarm“

 LED

lights up red. You can reset the alarm by first un-

plugging the

WD 1000

 device and then plugging

it in again.

NOTE:

Optionally, the alarm can also be ended

automatically after the last water contact. To do

this, the WD 1000 must be opened.

Make sure to switch off the device – pull the WD

1000 out of the mains socket! Loosen the hous-

ing screws and remove the jumper (see illustration

right below).

Refit the housing of the WD 1000 before plugging

it into the mains socket.

DANGER!

The device can only be opened by a

authorized electrician (see SAFETY)! Opening the

device will reveal components which have a live

current and can be hazardous to your

health when touched. Before opening, the power

plug must be pulled out. Any change to the circuit

or the use of components other than those specified

is not permitted.

7. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Check the water sensor‘s

measuring tips at regular in-

tervals. If necessary, clean

the metal ends with a damp

cloth. Check regularly to

see if the

WD 1000

 de-

vice is working properly

by bridging the water sen-

sor with a metal part.

NOTE:

H-TRONIC GmbH is not liable for damage

and/or loss of any kind, such as, individual or

consequential damage that happens if the water

detector does not detect leaking water and/or an

acoustic or visual alarm is not emitted.

8. SENSOR CABLE EXTENSION

The

WD 1000

 device‘s sensor cable including the

3.5 mm jack plug carries low voltage and must

not be laid in the same cable duct with cables that

carry more than 50 V. In addition, the sensor cable

should not be laid in the immediate vicinity of power

cables so as to prevent interference and measure-

ment errors because of this. You can extend the sen-

sor cable up to a length of 20 m (0.5 mm² to 1.5

mm), e.g. art. no 111 46 85 extension cable 5 m.

rect fuses, in case of misuse or damage caused by

negligence, are not covered by the warranty avoid

the warranty.

Further claims against the vendor due to this war-

ranty obligation, in particular claims for compen-

sation for loss of profit, compensation for use and

indirect damages, are excluded, unless legally
