Using an SSD with exFAT Format in a GL53xx
Minimum requirements

In order to format the SSD, you need the readout station “1x DiscReader” or an USB eSATA adapter.
The USB mode of the GL53xx is not intended to be used for formatting the SSD.
Please follow these steps to operate the SSD with the file system exFAT in a GL53xx:
1.
Download the latest GiNconf package from our web pages and install it.
2.
Download the latest version of our MLtools/MLcenter package from our web pages and install it.
3.
Launch the new GiNconf program and open your GL53xx project.
4.
Connect the USB eSATA adapter or the readout station to your PC.
5.
Connect the SSD to the USB eSATA adapter or insert it in the readout station.
6.
Compile your GL53xx configuration and copy the created COD file to the SSD. The SSD needs to be
formatted as FAT32 during this step.
Windows is only able to format 32 GB when using FAT32. Instead, we recommend the formatting program
GUIFORMAT from the company Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd. It is located under
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.htm
. Figure 1 shows the necessary settings for this program.
