Introduction

The 100BaseFX Mod-MAC is part of the Mod-MAC product family (which includes the 100BaseTX and
10BaseFL). It provides connectivity between a DIGITAL MultiSwitch 612EX and network devices using
100BaseFX Multimode Fiber (MMF). The 100BaseFX Mod-MAC only operates in the DIGITAL MultiSwitch
612EX. As illustrated above, the 100BaseFX Mod-MAC contains a transmit (1) and receive (2) connector.

Installation Procedure

Before you install a 100BaseFX Mod-MAC, make sure that the module has no power connected to it. The
100BaseFX Mod-MACs are not hot-swappable. To install the 100BaseFX Mod-MAC, complete the following
steps. A Phillips-head screwdriver is required.

1

Remove the dust cap from the module’s modular interface connector.

2

Hold  the 100BaseFX Mod-MAC by its bezel so that it is parallel with a slot opening on the module.

3

Insert the 100BaseFX Mod-MAC and align its sides with the guide in the module’s slot opening.

4

Push the 100BaseFX Mod-MAC into the slot until it is firmly seated  inside the module.

5

Align and securely fasten the two Phillips-head screws on the 100BaseFX Mod-MAC bezel.
