ESCRIPTION

This Quick Start supports the Total Access 324 Active Ethernet
Indoor Optical Network Terminal (ONT). The illustration above
displays the rear of the ONT and a cut-away of the top depicting
status LEDs.

Ports/Connectors

4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports

DC Power Plug

UPS Connector

SC Fiber Connector

Voice Processing (POTS1, POTS2)

POTS uses inband signaling tones and currents to determine call
status (for example, Call Request). Because POTS allows for the
transfer of audio signals below 3.3 kHz, POTS systems are also
used for modems that allow data transmission, referred to as “dial
up connections.”

Ethernet Interface (ETH1, ETH2, ETH3, ETH4)

The ONT supports data service through four 10/100/1000Base-T
Ethernet interfaces.

Power (PWR)

Power is supplied by an AC/DC Power Adapter or optionally by a
customer provided Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

AC/DC Power Adapter

The power feed is supplied through a 12 VDC Power Adapter that
is included with the ONT. The Power Adapter operates from a wall
socket input of 100 – 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, with a nominal output of
12 VDC. The total power consumption with 4 Ethernet Ports
running and both POTS lines off-hook is approximately 13.0
Watts.

UPS

The ONT provides an optional connector, labeled

UPS

 for a

customer provided UPS. The UPS powers the ONT and provides
a battery back-up supplying continuous 12 VDC when the primary
power is lost.
The ONT can be safely powered by both the AC/DC Power
Adapter and UPS simultaneously. However, to save quiescent
power dissipated by the AC/DC Power Adapter, it is recom-
mended that the AC/DC Power Adapter be removed when using
the UPS. To use UPS, the ADTRAN Cable Assy (P/N:
1287402G1) is required.

Fiber

Fiber is supplied to the ONT using an SC Fiber connection located
behind a removable protective panel.
