Total Access 300 Series

Small Business Unit ONT

The optical network consists of an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) located at

the central office and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) located at the

customer premises.
To allow for the transmission of downstream and upstream traffic on one

single fiber, different wavelengths are used for each direction.

Downstream traffic uses 1490 nm, while upstream traffic is carried on

1310 nm. For RF TV distribution, 1550 nm is used for downstream and

1610 nm is used for the upstream RF return path. The ONT uses optical

diplexers to separate the wavelengths.
This Job Aid covers the electronics module and housings listed in the

following table:

Refer to the

Total Access 300 Series Small Business Unit ONT Installation and

Maintenance Guide

(P/N 612877SBONT-5) for a list of available SFPs.

NOTE

The Total Access 372 SBU ONT is only intended to be used with the

Corning Systems Model FNI-NG series outdoor NID housing listed above.
