3M™ Bumpcap L-505 with Welding Shield  

and Wide-view Faceshield 

 

Disassembly 

 
 

1)  The L-112 Chin Strap or the L-114 Reinforced Chin Strap. 

Both are 

accessories on the L-500 Series. For removal instructions on the L-114 
see the L-701. Replace either chin strap when it is worn, torn or 
damaged. To remove the L-112

:    

 

a.  Remove the ends from the two headband slots by lifting them and 

pulling outward. 

 

2)  The L-129 is the Flame Retardant Welding Bib

, this is an optional 

item. It should be replaced when it is excessively worn or anytime it is 
torn. To remove it:

 

 

a.  Pull the bib away from the two 3M™ Scotchmate™ Strips at the 

rear of the headgear.  

 

3)  The L-120 is the Flame Retardant Faceseal made from SoftGuard® 

DTP Disposable Thermal Protection material or the L-124 is the 
Flame Retardant Faceseal

. Replace either faceseal whenever it is torn, 

worn excessively or has lost its elasticity. To remove either faceseal:

 

 

a.  Unhook the faceseal from the tabs on each side of the extender. 
 
b.  Unhook the faceseal from the head suspension.

4)  The L-145 is the Welding Knob.

 The welding knob must be used with 

the welding shield. The knob should be replaced when it is worn or 
missing. To remove the it:

 

 

a.  Unscrew the knob and remove it from the cam. 

 

5)  The L-153 is the Welding Shield.

 It should be replaced when it is 

damaged. To remove it: 

 

 

a.  Unscrew the knobs on either side of the welding shield and remove 

them from the cams.
