2 Setting the water hardness
The harder your drinking water is, the more often you need to descale the coffee machine. The
coffee machine has been set to a medium water hardness of L2. Select L1 if the water is very
soft or L3 if it is very hard.
Turn the button to the left until the
symbol flashes. Press the button. The displayed water hard-
ness will flash. Turn the button to select the right water hardness. If you press the button again,
the coffee machine will beep once and the setting will be kept even if you disconnect the coffee
machine from the electric circuit.
Start-up
1 Cleaning
Clean the water tank, the brew head, the filter holder and the thermos jug with drinking water.
Make sure that your socket's voltage corresponds to the voltage of the coffee machine (see type
plate at the bottom of the device). Connect the coffee machine to the socket.
Fill the tank with drinking water up to the MAX mark. Centre the empty thermos jug under the
filter holder. Start a brewing cycle without coffee powder and without a filter (turn the button to
the right until, select any number of cups, and press the button again). Beeping signals the start
of the brewing programme.
