Wi-Fi: Wireless Fidelity. Refers to any system that uses the 802.11
standard, which was developed by the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and released in 1997.
WLAN: WiFi . A typically low-power network that transmits a wireless
signal over a span of a few hundred feet and usually only to stationary
devices.
TCP/IP: Transmission Control Protocol /Internet Protocol. A
communications protocol developed under contract from the U.S
Department of Defense to permit dissimilar systems to network.
WEP: Wired Equivalent Privacy. An IEEE standard security protocol for
802.11 networks. Superseded by WPS and WPA2.
WPA/WPA2: Wi-Fi Protected Access. A security protocol for wireless
802.11 networks from the Wi-Fi Alliance.
