DO NOT allow this heater to operate dry. Special

care should be taken to be sure that the heater

remains submerged in water when in use.

If the heater comes out of the water, unplug

immediately and allow to completely cool before

handling.

  HEATER INSTALLATION:

 Note:

This heater will raise the temperature

in your fish bowl or tank by approximately

5 to 10°F (2.7 to 5.4°C) over ambient room

temperature. An aquarium thermometer

must be used to be sure that the tempera-

ture is appropriate for your Betta or other

aquarium fish. In the event that the ambient

room temperature is warmer than the de-

sired temperature in your aquarium, be sure

to unplug the heater to prevent overheating

the water and your aquarium fish. Do not

place your bowl or tank near a window, in

direct sunlight, or any other heat source to

prevent overheating your aquarium.

 CAUTION:

1.Do not plug in the heater until after complet-

ing the following steps.

2.Place the heater near the floor of the bowl or

tank as shown in Figure 2.

3.Before filling the bowl or tank with water,

add aquarium gravel or sand to the floor of

your aquarium.

4.The heater is to be placed under a thin layer

of sand or gravel (up to 1 inch or 2.54 cm).

5.Secure the heater’s power cord to the side

wall of the bowl or tank with the clip and

suction cup provided.

6.Fill the bowl or tank with dechlorinated water

to the desired level. We recommend using

Zoo Med’s Betta H2O Conditioner.

7.Plug in the heater and allow the water

temperature to stabilize. This may take

several hours depending on the initial

water temperature and the ambient room

temperature.

8.Check the temperature shown on the

aquarium thermometer to be sure that the

temperature is correct for your Betta or

other aquarium fish. Bettas do best when

the temperature is between 76 and 80°F

(24.5 to 26.7°C). Temperatures required for

spawning are slightly higher at 80 to 85°F

(26.7 to 29.4°C).

If the temperature shown on your aquarium

thermometer exceeds the desired tempera-

ture in your bowl or tank, unplug the heater

to avoid overheating your fish.
