C. Install the Seat
Depending on the bike you may or may
not have to install the seat post to the
seat.
First attach the seat to the seat post if
needed then insert the post into the
frame. Tighten the two bolts on the seat
post binder to secure the post
–
always
tighten the bottom bolt first.
Saddle
The correct adjustment of the
seat angle
is largely a matter of personal prefer-
ence. With proper adjustment, the right bike seat will be reasonably com-
fortable even for long rides.
To select the saddle angle, first try riding with the top of the seat parallel
to the ground. The seat may be moved forward or backward along the
seat post to increase comfort as well as adjust the distance to the handle-
bars.
Adjust the angle of the seat
1. Loosen the seat fixing bolt just far enough so the seat can be tilted fore
and aft
.
2. Place a straight edge, such as a bubble level or ruler, across the top of
the seat to better see the angle.
Note: Some seat posts use two bolts, where angle adjustment is done by
loosening one bolt and tightening the other bolt.
There is a minimum height adjustment on the seat post always be sure
that the seat post is inserted below this mark
D. Install the Pedals
First determine which pedal is the right and which one is the left . The
right pedal goes on the side of the bike that has the
chain on it . Another way to look at it is if you are
sitting on the bike facing forward it is your right and
left .
The left pedal is left-hand threaded, while the right
pedal is right-hand (normal) threaded. Tighten ped-
als into the crank arms to 350-380 lb/in.
Tighten the left pedal counter-clockwise; the right
pedal clockwise.
