Measurement of refraction and keratometry

The device records refraction and keratometry data in the
Refraction measurement mode. It is only possible to acquire both
types of measurement data if the illumination mode is set to
Standard . In IOL and User-defined illumination modes, only
refraction data is recorded.
Preparation of the device for measurement
•
Select the desired patient from the patient list (see Section Patient
selection , page 47) or start measurement by selecting <unscheduled
patient> (default setting).

Select the Refraction menu in the upper navigation bar. As soon as the
word
Refraction
is displayed in blue, the
Refraction
measurement
mode is enabled ( 1 , Fig. 25)
•
Select the mode for the measurement ( 3 , Fig. 25). To do this, press the
corresponding button on the two-function button. The activated
measurement mode will be displayed in white on a blue background.
– In Manual measurement mode measurement is triggered by pressing
the measurement button on the joystick.
– In automatic mode ( Auto ) the device automatically releases a
measurement as soon as the camera image is correctly focused and
centered.

The fully automatic measurement of both eyes is not possible on
this device. The measuring head is positioned manually on both
sides.
