Laser Safety: Position of the Reed
Contacts
Laser safety is ensured by 5 reed contacts
(Fig. 3-10/
1
) (switches with magnets) located at
critical points in the incubator. The following
example is transparent to indicate the exact
positions of the contacts which can shut down the
laser beam if the corresponding door, slide-in base
plate or the seal for transmitted light carriers are
opened or if the entire incubator is removed.
3.6.2
Mounting
•
Remove all the transport locking pins marked in
red.
•
Pull out both slide-in base plates (Fig. 3-7/
8
and
9
).
•
To remove the slide-in base plates, turn both the round blue knob on the left of the front (Fig. 3-7/
10
)
from closed position (Fig. 3-11/
1
) and the rectangular blue bar on the right side (Fig. 3-7/
6
) through
90° (Fig. 3-11/
2
). Pull the left slide-in base plate forwards, and the right plate to the side to remove.
•
Mount all required components such as the fixed microscope stage with the object guide, the
mechanical stage or scanning stage with the P S1 heating insert or the M06-96 S heating inserts or
other heated or unheated components. Fasten the condensers and objectives, and mount
micromanipulators if necessary.
•
Adjust the limit switch (Y-axis) of the scanning stage in such a way that the moveable part of the stage
does not go over the front margin of the stage (supporting surface for the incubator). To limit the
distance of travel to the left, mount the modified strip (provided by Carl Zeiss).
Before placing the incubator on the microscope, the transmitted light carrier must be moved
into position, the upper illuminators removed, and the front handle (between the tube and
microscope stage) removed using an Allen key.
