Function test before use
Checklist
Use the following list to check the function of the device before every operation
(with no patient).
• Check the zoom

The buttons of the foot control panel have been configured (see
Page 110).

The zoom speed has been set on the touchscreen (see Page 123).
• Check the focus

The buttons of the foot control panel have been configured (see
Page 110).

The focusing speed has been set on the touchscreen (see Page 123).
• Check the X-Y coupling

The speed has been set on the touchscreen (see Page 123).
• Check the unobstructed movement of the surgical microscope.

The ease of movement has been adjusted using the friction adjustment
knob on the suspension system (see Page 45).

All cables and accessories have been installed in such a way that the
surgical microscope can be safely positioned without causing any
damage.
CAUTION Failure of functions possible
If defects in the device are identified during surgery, there is a risk of injuries
to the patient.
• Perform a functional test prior to each use of the device.
• Do not use the device if is defective or malfunctioning.
CAUTION Failure of functions!
If the failure of a function impairs your work, do not use the system for safety
reasons!
• Correct the malfunction (see “What to do in the event of malfunctions”)
or contact ZEISS Service.
