How to Access Data Acquired with Airyscan Using Other Software
There are different ways to access the Airyscan raw pixel data:
−
via ZEN black VBA macro interface
−
CZI files
−
Export to TIFF
1) ZEN black VBA macro interface
You can use the "AimImage" object to access the raw pixel data. Use dimension H to discriminate
between the raw data channels.
In addition you need to read parameters from the IAiryScanParameters interface (available at AimImage).
Please find the documentation for the VBA macro interface in the user manual.
2) CZI files
The raw pixel data is contained in the CZI file in dimension H. If you can read CZI files you can directly
access the Airyscan raw data channels. They have 32 entries in the H dimension.
The documentation of the CZI file format can be requested via Zeiss web page:
http://www.zeiss.com/microscopy/en_de/products/microscope-software/zen-2012/czi.html
Additional Metadata is available in the "IAimImageTrackParameters" interface. Metadata, saved in the czi
file, can be read using standard text editor. Scroll over the binary data of the file and find the ASCII
metadata. More detailed information on the META data can be provided on request. Please contact your
local ZEISS representative.
3) Export to TIFF/BMP/etc.
Export the image via the Export function to TIFF or another image format.
During that process the Metadata information is lost. You need to read the Metadata information from
the CZI or ZEN (via macro) and store it in order to process the data correctly.
