INTRABEAM Water Phantom
Operation
Measuring the depth dose curve
When the probe tip is positioned exactly above the measuring chamber for
the depth dose measurement , you can begin the radiation measurement, i.e.
you can record the depth dose curve.
If air bubbles have accumulated on the probe tip, you must remove them prior
to taking the measurement, as they may have a negative effect on the
measurement result:
•
Use a longer spatula or a plastic or glass rod to wipe off the air bubbles.
•
Check your measurement setup using the checklist, page 32.
Detailed explanations on how to operate the electrometer are provided in the
corresponding instructions for use.
WARNING
If the shielding provided by the water tank is incomplete or the user opens a
cover of the water tank while radiation is being generated, the user may un-
intentionally come into contact with emitted X-ray radiation.
•
Ensure that the XRS mount is properly seated in the rotary unit, that the
XRS 4 is properly seated in the XRS mount and that all covers are properly
attached to the water tank.
•
Ensure that radiation is no longer being generated before opening a cov-
er of the water tank. Actuate the <Pause> button to make sure that the
XRS 4 no longer emits any radiation.
NOTE
If the clamping screws of the X,Y positioning unit are tightened insufficiently
or are not tightened at all, this could cause the X,Y positioning to change
without being noticed. This may cause errors in determining the zero point.
•
When you have reached the optimal X,Y position, tighten the clamping
screws firmly.
NOTE
If you subsequently change the position of the ionization chamber holder or
the IC ionization chamber, you will obtain incorrect measurement results.
•
Leave the ionization chamber holder and the IC ionization chamber un-
changed in the position to which you have positioned the probe tip.
