RUNNING THE DECODER
The Z3-HE4K-01 also supports decode. Note that, when changing between encode and decode mode, a
reboot of the system is required for each mode switch. Details are listed below.
Connect the Z3-HE4K-01
8.1
The following steps detail decode of previously encoded content recorded to a USB drive. If you have
one Z3-HE4K-01 unit, see Section 9.5 for more information on creating a suitable USB drive. If you have
multiple units, you can also connect one unit in encode mode to a second unit in decode mode for an
end-to-end solution.
(1)
Connect an HDMI 1.4 cable to “HDMI Out” on the back of the unit. Connect the other end to a 4K
monitor.
(2)
Connect an Ethernet cable from “Ethernet” on the back of the unit to a switch, router or other DHCP
server on the same network as your Windows PC.
(3)
Connect a USB 3.0 drive with the content to be decoded and connect it to USB1 (the top USB port).
USB 3.0 is recommended to ensure that it is fast enough to read the data to be decoded.
(4)
Access the user interface of the Z3-HE4K-01.
(5)
Verify the Z3-HE4K-01 is not currently encoding. If the unit is currently encoding, click the “stop”
button.
