If possible, rotate the ADP through various heading, pitch, and roll angles to see if the com-
pass data looks “reasonable”. Note: Point the X-axis of the ADP to the cardinal points (N, S,
E, W) and verify the heading. Refer to
for X-axis markings.

When you are ready to stop the compass check, press
<Enter>

There are three more “internal” sensors that we can check – Temperature, Pressure, and Bat-
tery Voltage. Note: The pressure sensor is an option, so zero-data may be displayed.

Type in
SENSOR CONT
and press
<Enter>
. The
SonUtils
screen will begin to show Tem-
perature (in °C), Pressure (in dbar), and Battery Voltage (in VDC).

When you are ready to stop the sensor check, press

If you have an internal recorder installed, type in
DIR
and press
<Enter>
. The
SonUtils
screen will display a listing of any files that are currently stored on the recorder (if any).
The number of bytes used and the number of bytes free will also be displayed.

That’s it! We’ve finished running the simple tests as a way of ensuring that the system has
survived the shipping procedure. You can now power down and disconnect the system. Or,
if you are an experienced user, you can begin the process of setting up for a “real” applica-
tion. If you need more information about how to set up and use the system, the next section
gives you some suggestions on what you can do next.
